  • How Fence Height, Spacing, and Style Can Influence Property Value

Fence height, spacing, and style influence curb appeal, buyer perception, and long-term property value for residential and rural properties.

Fence design isn’t just about looks — it directly impacts how buyers view the quality and care of a property.”
    — Tony Ostrowski

COVINGTON, LA, UNITED STATES, January 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fence height, spacing, and style affect property value in ways many homeowners don’t consider until they prepare to sell. While fencing is often viewed as a functional necessity, it plays a critical role in first impressions, outdoor usability, and buyer confidence. A well-designed fence can enhance curb appeal and support resale value, while a poorly planned or improperly installed fence can raise concerns during inspections and negotiations.

Tony’s Fencing & Iron Works, serving Southeast Louisiana for over 30 years, works with homeowners to design fencing solutions that balance appearance, durability, and long-term value. According to industry professionals, buyers often interpret fencing quality as a reflection of overall property maintenance and care.

How Fence Height Shapes Buyer Perception

Fence height strongly influences how a property feels to potential buyers. Taller backyard fences often appeal to families and pet owners by offering privacy and security, creating outdoor spaces that feel usable and comfortable. These spaces are increasingly important as buyers place more value on outdoor living.

Front-yard fencing, however, benefits from a more open approach. Lower fencing or ornamental iron styles maintain visibility and curb appeal while still defining boundaries. When fence height aligns with neighborhood aesthetics and local regulations, it enhances value rather than detracting from it. Tony’s Fencing & Iron Works advises homeowners on residential fencing designs that comply with local codes while complementing the home’s architecture.

Why Fence Spacing Impacts Both Function and Value

Fence spacing affects airflow, visibility, privacy, and visual balance. Tightly spaced boards are commonly associated with privacy fencing and are attractive to buyers seeking quiet, enclosed outdoor spaces. These designs often increase the perceived usability of patios, pools, and backyards.

Wider spacing is typically used for farm fencing and rural properties, where functionality and land visibility matter more than enclosure. On agricultural or large properties, open spacing reinforces the character of the land and supports practical use. Choosing spacing that matches the property’s purpose ensures the fence feels intentional rather than out of place.

    Fence Style and Curb Appeal

Fence style is one of the most influential factors in curb appeal. Wood fencing offers warmth and versatility, ornamental iron fencing conveys durability and elegance, and vinyl fencing appeals to buyers looking for low maintenance. Farm and perimeter fencing reinforce function and land value on rural properties.

When fencing complements the home’s design and landscape, it creates a cohesive appearance that buyers associate with quality craftsmanship. Ornamental iron fencing, in particular, often enhances front-yard presentation and long-term value when paired with proper installation and design.

The Role of Gates in Property Value

Gates are among the most visible and frequently used components of a fencing system. Custom walk gates and driveway gates add convenience, security, and balance to a property’s exterior. Automatic gate systems, when professionally installed, are often viewed as upgrades rather than optional features, particularly on larger residential properties.

Well-designed gates reinforce the quality of the fence as a whole, while poorly constructed gates can undermine the value of an otherwise attractive installation.

    Installation Quality and Long-Term Impact

Fence design alone cannot protect property value without proper installation. Leaning posts, uneven panels, and shallow footings are red flags for buyers and inspectors. In Southeast Louisiana, soil movement and moisture make professional installation especially important for long-term stability.

The National Association of Realtors notes that exterior improvements contributing to curb appeal can positively influence buyer perception and sales timelines, reinforcing the importance of quality workmanship. External link: https://www.nar.realtor/research-and-statistics

    Frequently Asked Questions
    Does fencing increase property value?

Fencing can increase property value when it improves curb appeal, privacy, and functionality. Poorly maintained or non-compliant fencing can have the opposite effect.

What fence style adds the most value?

The best fence style depends on the property. Ornamental iron and professionally installed wood privacy fences tend to perform well when matched to the home and neighborhood.

Can the wrong fence hurt resale value?

Yes. Fences that violate local codes, appear out of place, or show signs of poor installation can raise concerns during inspections and negotiations.

Should homeowners install a fence before selling?

Installing a fence before selling can be beneficial if it enhances appearance and usability. Design choices should appeal to a broad range of buyers and comply with local regulations.

  • Crime Drops in Downtown San Bernardino by Nearly Half

SAN BERNARDINO, CA, UNITED STATES, January 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — “Crime rates in downtown San Bernardino have decreased by almost half over the past five years,” said Police Chief Darren L. Goodman. “This positive trend includes a decline in burglaries, aggravated assaults, and, notably, there have been very few homicides this year.” Crime rates in the rest of the City have also declined by more than 30 percent.

Further, San Bernardino’s downtown area is one of the first 30 communities in California to be designated a “Clean California Community” by Caltrans. This designation is part of a multi-year partnership among the City of San Bernardino, the Arts Connection/Arts Council of San Bernardino County, local businesses, Creative Grounds, and real estate company Realicore.

Downtown serves as the City’s government and business center, with 38,250 people working there and 50,567 residents living there. It is home to 2,756 businesses that help sustain a lively economy, generating $6.7 billion in sales in 2024.

SBPD statistics regarding the 1st Ward show that aggravated assaults declined from 399 in 2020 to 206 in 2025. Robberies decreased from 199 to 102 during the same period. Burglaries dropped from 237 in 2020 to 134 so far in 2025. Homicides fell from 15 in 2020 to 4 in 2025.

“The Police Department’s records show that crime is going down in all parts of the City,” said 1st Ward San Bernardino City Councilmember Theodore Sanchez.

The SBPD attributes the declining crime rates to a combination of proactive policing and community support.

“San Bernardino has achieved significant progress,” said Chief Goodman. “Violent crime has decreased, and we are proud of the efforts our officers and the community have made to reach this point. With new technology, including expanded crime-camera coverage downtown, we’re enhancing our ability to prevent violence and safeguard our neighborhoods.”

Mayor Helen Tran supports Chief Goodman’s views. She believes that having more officers on the street, better data, and greater awareness have combined to reduce crime in downtown San Bernardino, making it more attractive.

Mayor Tran said, “A major reason for the decrease in crime is the increased presence of law enforcement officers on the streets. She credits their success to proactive policing, intelligence-led strategies, and collaborative partnerships.”

“Effective community outreach has also played a key role,” Mayor Tran stresses. “The program’s success is attributed to credible messengers and trained outreach workers, often with shared life experiences, who build trust with high-risk individuals. They use direct, respectful engagement to discuss the consequences of violence and provide pathways to change.”

Councilmember Sanchez credits “Targeted enforcement and closer partnerships with neighborhood groups” for helping drive the decline in crime, particularly in and around downtown San Bernardino.

Chief Goodman points out that the SBPD has experienced recent recruiting successes driven by grants and a targeted approach, enabling them to hire new officers despite national challenges in law enforcement staffing. These include,

    • Grant Funding Success: The department has been highly successful in securing external grants to fund new positions, a major factor in its ability to hire more police officers.
    • In late 2024, the SBPD, with the support of US Congressmember Pete Aguilar, secured a $625,000 federal grant to hire five new officers and expand community policing resources. Over three years, the department secured grants and external agreements to fund 32 new police officer positions and four professional staff positions.
    • Staffing Levels: The department aims to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
    • Emphasis on Local Talent: The department places a high value on officers with personal ties to the community. Some officers are San Bernardino natives who chose to serve the City where they grew up, which the department highlights in its recruitment efforts.

“The SBPD continues to actively recruit,” said Chief Goodman. “We emphasize career opportunities, upward mobility, and the chance to make a positive community impact as reasons to join our team, whether in uniform or in civilian positions.” To view current opportunities, visit https://www.sanbernardino.gov/422/Careers.

“Downtown San Bernardino is lively and thriving. On an average day, over 29,034 vehicles travel through downtown streets, showing that the area remains a vibrant and active part of our region, ready for ongoing business growth and expansion,” said Mayor Tran.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to Chief Goodman and the San Bernardino Police Department for their dedication to public safety and for fostering strong community ties,” said San Bernardino County Supervisor Joe Baca. “Their collaborative approach and genuine investment in our neighborhoods help create a safer, more connected San Bernardino.”

  • Inherited Properties Are Shaping Home-Selling Decisions Across Texas

With more Americans inheriting property, Texas families are navigating probate rules, shared ownership, and the responsibilities that come with inherited homes.

TX, UNITED STATES, January 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — As more Americans anticipate inheriting property as part of ongoing generational wealth transfers, inherited homes are becoming an increasingly important decision point for families across Texas. Recent national survey data shows that many individuals expect to inherit real estate, yet a significant portion feel unprepared for the financial and logistical responsibilities that come with owning an inherited home.

According to a 2025 consumer survey, nearly half of Americans expect to inherit property, and more than 40 percent report they are not financially prepared to manage ongoing costs such as property taxes, insurance, maintenance, and repairs. These challenges often arise during an already complex period that involves estate settlement, legal considerations, and coordination among family members.

Inherited properties also tend to take longer to sell than traditional home sales. Industry research indicates that homes associated with probate or shared ownership frequently remain on the market for extended periods due to legal timelines, multiple decision makers, and deferred maintenance. As a result, many families take time to explore their options before deciding how to proceed.

These national trends are particularly relevant in Texas, where a large number of homeowners are aging in place and where property ownership is often transferred to heirs who live out of state. Managing an inherited home from a distance, addressing ongoing expenses, or coordinating decisions among multiple beneficiaries can add layers of complexity to an unfamiliar process.

“Many families we speak with are not looking to rush a decision,” said Lisa Martinez, founder of TX Cash Home Buyers. “They are looking for clarity. They want to understand how probate works in Texas, what options are available, and what responsibilities come with managing an inherited property before deciding what makes the most sense for their situation.”

To help Texas families navigate these decisions, TX Cash Home Buyers has published educational resources that explain Texas inheritance laws, probate requirements, and common considerations involved in selling an inherited property. One such resource is an educational guide on inheriting property in Texas, which outlines legal timelines, ownership structures, and practical next steps for heirs.

As generational wealth continues to transfer nationwide, inherited real estate is expected to play an increasingly prominent role in how properties change hands. Access to clear, educational information can help families make informed decisions during estate transitions.

More information about TX Cash Home Buyers and its educational resources for Texas homeowners is available online.

  • Bootstrapping Success: Platform Shares Hard-Won Entrepreneurship Lessons for Building Companies Without Venture Capital

Resource Explores How First Customers Can Fund Product Development and Why “Impossible” Problems Create Opportunities

Venture capital is not the right choice for many businesses. It works best for a small subset of companies that need massive capital to scale very quickly.”
    — Paul Graham, Co-founder of Y Combinator

BROOKLYN, NY, UNITED STATES, January 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A newly launched platform dedicated to entrepreneurship insights challenges the conventional wisdom that successful companies require venture capital funding, instead presenting frameworks for bootstrapping businesses from zero capital to significant scale using customer revenue as the primary funding source.

The resource at georgepopescuinsights.com collects lessons and perspectives on company building, risk-taking, and sustainable growth, drawing on examples from fintech, technology services, and other sectors where founders built valuable businesses without relinquishing equity or control to outside investors.

The Bootstrapping Alternative to Venture Capital
While venture capital dominates entrepreneurship media coverage, the majority of successful businesses never raise institutional funding. They grow organically using customer revenue, operating profits, and strategic reinvestment rather than dilutive equity financing.
This bootstrapping approach offers distinct advantages. Founders maintain ownership and control, avoiding misalignment with investors pursuing different timelines. Customer revenue provides validation that products solve real problems worth paying for. Profitability discipline emerges naturally when growth must be funded by operations.

However, bootstrapping also presents challenges. Growth may proceed more slowly than venture-backed competitors. Founders bear more personal financial risk. Capital constraints limit hiring, marketing, and infrastructure investment. Understanding these tradeoffs helps entrepreneurs choose appropriate funding strategies.

Using First Customers to Fund Product Development
A crucial bootstrapping insight involves using early customer revenue to fund product development rather than building complete solutions before acquiring paying customers. This approach flips traditional product development sequences.
Instead of spending months perfecting a product before launch, bootstrapped companies often sell incomplete solutions to early adopters who understand limitations. These customers essentially fund development through advance payments or fees for basic versions.
This customer-funded approach provides multiple benefits beyond just capital. It forces founders to validate market demand immediately rather than building based on assumptions. It creates tight feedback loops where customer input directly shapes development priorities. It ensures products solve real problems that paying customers actually experience.

Choosing “Impossible” Problems With Real Demand
The platform emphasizes seeking challenges that appear impossible or extremely difficult but have genuine, urgent market demand. These opportunities exist precisely because difficulty deters most competitors, creating openings for founders willing to tackle complexity.

Financial trading infrastructure, for instance, requires handling precise calculations at high speed under strict regulatory requirements—challenging enough that many developers avoid it. Yet demand from trading firms and financial institutions remains strong and well-funded. Companies that solve these difficult problems can command premium pricing and build defensible positions.

Similarly, B2B services in regulated industries like lending, healthcare, or finance involve navigating complex compliance requirements that deter casual entrants. Founders who invest in understanding regulations and building compliant solutions face less competition.
The key is distinguishing between problems that are genuinely impossible versus merely difficult, and ensuring sufficient market demand justifies the development effort.

    Creative Problem-Solving Around Constraints
Resource limitations force bootstrapped companies to develop creative solutions that venture-backed competitors might never discover. Constraints on capital, personnel, and time require innovative approaches to customer acquisition, product development, and operations.
These constraint-driven innovations often create lasting competitive advantages. Solutions developed under resource constraints tend to be more efficient, focused, and scalable than those built with abundant funding. Companies learn to prioritize ruthlessly, eliminate waste, and optimize operations.

The platform explores how constraints shape strategic decisions: focusing on specific customer segments rather than broad markets, building minimum viable features rather than comprehensive platforms, using word-of-mouth and content marketing rather than paid acquisition, and hiring selectively for high-impact roles.

    Cycles, Crises, and Turning Points
A recurring theme emphasizes how difficult moments often precede significant achievements. Market downturns, customer losses, or operational failures force comprehensive reassessment. Companies that navigate these crises effectively often emerge stronger and better positioned.

This pattern contradicts narratives emphasizing linear growth and consistent progress. Real company building involves setbacks that appear catastrophic but, when handled well, catalyze improvements and innovations that wouldn’t occur during smooth periods.

The platform suggests viewing crises as forcing functions that surface problems requiring attention and create urgency for changes that would otherwise be postponed. The next major milestone often comes precisely because a crisis forced necessary changes.

    Understanding Cost of Capital
While many entrepreneurs focus on product development and customer acquisition, the platform emphasizes understanding capital costs. Bootstrapped companies using customer revenue have relatively low capital costs. Venture-backed companies face much higher costs as investors expect substantial returns.

This distinction affects pricing strategies and growth targets. Bootstrapped companies can succeed with steady growth and moderate margins. Venture-backed companies require explosive growth. Understanding these dynamics helps entrepreneurs make better strategic decisions.

    The Learning Mindset
Perhaps the most consistent message is encouragement to try building companies while maintaining realistic expectations about outcomes. The worst case scenario—failure—primarily represents a learning experience that improves future attempts and builds capabilities valuable even in traditional employment.

This perspective reduces the psychological barrier to attempting entrepreneurship. The platform advocates for attempting company building if genuinely interested, embracing appropriate risk levels, learning from inevitable setbacks, and using each experience to inform better future decisions.

    Conclusion
As entrepreneurship media increasingly focuses on venture capital and hyper-growth startups, resources exploring bootstrapping and sustainable company building serve an important function. The platform at georgepopescuinsights.com provides this alternative perspective through lessons applicable to founders choosing paths beyond venture funding, emphasizing execution over theory and learning over perfection.

  • OutdoorAdventures.pro Launches Third Annual Industry Survey

Third-year survey provides practical insight into performance, trends, and the year ahead

CHARLOTTE, NC, UNITED STATES, January 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — OutdoorAdventures.pro today announced the launch of its third annual Outdoor Adventure Industry Survey, an initiative designed to give outdoor service providers practical, real-world data to support better business decisions in a rapidly changing market.

Now entering its third year, the survey has been expanded and refined based directly on feedback from previous participants. As a result, this year’s questionnaire is more comprehensive and more focused on the issues outdoor operators say matter most to their day-to-day operations and long-term planning.

The survey gathers information on business performance, year-over-year trends, revenue expectations, and outlook for the coming year. It also explores the growing role of online bookings, customer demand patterns, staffing and workforce challenges, pricing pressures, and plans for introducing or expanding services. Together, these insights create a clearer picture of how the outdoor adventure industry is evolving and where opportunities and risks may lie.

“The outdoor industry is incredibly diverse, but many businesses are facing similar questions about growth, bookings, staffing, and customer behavior,” said Lindsay Henry, Marketing Director of OutdoorAdventures.pro. “This survey is designed to cut through anecdotal information and provide operators with benchmarks and trend data they can actually use.”

The survey is open to a wide range of outdoor service providers, including guides, outfitters, rental operators, tour companies, and experiential businesses across the United States and Canada. By participating, operators contribute to a more accurate and representative snapshot of the industry, helping ensure the results reflect real operating conditions rather than assumptions.

All survey responses are confidential. As a key benefit of participation, every respondent will receive a complimentary copy of the full survey results, providing valuable benchmarks and insights that can inform 2026 planning, pricing strategies, marketing decisions, and investment priorities. The survey takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete and can be accessed here.

Beyond individual benefits, participation strengthens the collective understanding of the outdoor adventure sector, helping elevate the industry with credible, operator-driven data.

The survey is currently open and will close January 15, 2026. Outdoor service providers are encouraged to participate early to help ensure broad representation across business types and regions. Outdoor service providers can participate in the survey here.

  • Candidate Ghosting Is Slowing Hiring, Automation Is Restoring Momentum

EUREKA, MT, UNITED STATES, January 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Recruiting teams across industries are facing a growing challenge that rarely shows up on job descriptions or dashboards. Candidates are disappearing mid-process. Interviews go unconfirmed. Messages go unanswered. Offers are delayed or abandoned altogether. This pattern, commonly referred to as candidate ghosting, has become one of the most persistent obstacles in modern hiring.

Ghosting is often treated as a candidate behavior problem. In reality, it is usually a process problem. Long response times, unclear next steps, manual scheduling, and inconsistent communication all contribute to disengagement. When candidates are left waiting, momentum fades and silence follows.

Hiring today moves at the pace of expectations, not intention. Job seekers are accustomed to instant communication in nearly every part of their lives. When hiring processes rely on back-and-forth emails, delayed follow-ups, or rigid interview schedules, candidates frequently disengage before reaching the final stage.

Automation is emerging as a practical way to address this silent breakdown. By replacing delays with immediate engagement, hiring teams can keep candidates informed, active, and confident throughout the process. Automated pre-screening interviews allow applicants to respond on their own time, removing scheduling friction and increasing completion rates. Structured scoring ensures only qualified candidates advance, while consistent communication sets clear expectations at every step.

Reducing ghosting is not just about speed. It is also about respect for time and transparency. Candidates are far more likely to complete interviews and attend scheduled meetings when the process is simple, responsive, and predictable. When systems handle outreach, reminders, and scheduling automatically, recruiters spend less time chasing responses and more time evaluating fit.

Organizations adopting automated hiring workflows report measurable improvements. Fewer no-shows. Shorter time-to-hire. Higher interview completion. More engaged candidates moving through the pipeline. These gains reflect a shift away from manual coordination and toward systems designed to support continuous momentum.

Automation also plays a role in fairness. Standardized screening and scoring reduce subjective decision-making and ensure each applicant is evaluated using the same criteria. When communication and assessment are consistent, candidates receive a more equitable experience regardless of background or availability.

HRMLESS reflects this broader shift in hiring by focusing on automated engagement, structured screening, and real-time visibility into candidate progress. Rather than relying on reactive follow-ups, the platform enables hiring teams to keep processes moving without added complexity or manual effort.

As labor markets remain competitive and candidate expectations continue to rise, organizations are rethinking how hiring should function. Ghosting is not an unavoidable outcome. It is a signal that systems need to evolve. Automation is proving to be one of the most effective ways to restore clarity, momentum, and trust to the hiring experience.

The future of hiring favors processes that are fast, fair, and responsive by design. When candidates are engaged from the first interaction through the final decision, silence becomes the exception rather than the norm.

    About HRMLESS
HRMLESS is an AI-driven hiring automation platform powered by Nerva AI. It automates pre-screening, scoring, scheduling, and candidate engagement to help organizations hire faster, reduce ghosting, and maintain consistent, bias-aware hiring workflows.

  • New Monthly Income Tax Roundtable for Practioners

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, UNITED STATES, January 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A new collaborative roundtable for tax professionals focused on tax issues is launching this week, offering practitioners a structured forum to explore real-world technical challenges, share insights, and engage in peer discussion. The initiative responds to an accelerating need within the profession for deeper technical collaboration amid evolving international compliance requirements.

The Roundtable Program is designed to provide tax practitioners with a forum for collective problem-solving and practical analysis. It diverges from traditional continuing education or coaching models by emphasizing interactive dialogue over lectures, enabling participants to work through actual scenarios and compare professional approaches with peers and subject-matter experts.

A key offering at the outset of the program is the International Tax Roundtable, a monthly discussion group facilitated by Mary Beth Lougen, EA, USTCP, an internationally recognized tax expert with more than three decades of experience in U.S. and cross-border taxation.

Mary Beth brings a long career advising on expatriate and international tax topics, working in both the United States and Canada, and she is widely respected within the profession for her technical depth and practitioner-focused guidance. Her credentials include designation as an Enrolled Agent and as a U.S. Tax Court Practitioner, equipping her to support complex compliance and reporting matters.

The launch comes at a time when global mobility and international financial reporting continue to generate intricate tax issues for practitioners and their clients. Professionals who serve internationally mobile individuals, expatriates, and businesses with cross-border activities increasingly face layered compliance obligations as well as nuanced interpretation of treaty, reporting, and advisory standards.

The Tax Roundtable is intended as a collaborative, case-based forum where participants can discuss challenging scenarios drawn from their day-to-day practice, including how to interpret and apply foreign reporting requirements, navigate issues associated with cross-border income, and manage compliance risk for globally mobile clients. These discussions provide practitioners with opportunities to exchange perspectives and deepen their technical understanding in areas where guidance may be sparse or continuously evolving.

Unlike formal training programs or one-on-one coaching arrangements, the roundtable model emphasizes shared insight and collective problem-solving among experienced peers. Participants are encouraged to bring questions, case examples, and practical concerns to the table, creating a dynamic environment for discussion that reflects broader shifts within the profession toward peer-driven learning and collaborative development.

“This roundtable was created to meet a real need we hear from practitioners,” said Mary Beth. In my sessions “Technical tax challenges — especially in international and expatriate contexts — often don’t fit cleanly into a slide deck or lecture format. Practitioners benefit when they can talk through these issues with others who face similar work every day.”

The inaugural session for international issues is scheduled for this week, marking the official start of what organizers describe as an ongoing monthly series. Future sessions are expected to be shaped by participant input and emerging developments within international tax practice.

The Roundtable Program may be especially relevant for tax professionals who regularly engage with complex compliance obligations or work with expatriate and internationally mobile clients, offering a space to enhance advisory skills and technical expertise through dialogue rather than conventional classroom formats.
